Drama Kids International and Drama Kids Katy, Houston & Fulshear is an exciting after-school drama program that develops speaking skills and confidence in children ages 3-17. We are an international program in more than 50 countries with over 100,000 students currently enrolled worldwide. In fact, we are the #1 drama skills education company in the world. We deliver our program throughout the week in community centers and schools in the area.
We have a mission: “Development Through Drama”. Personally, I like to say we work to bring out the Remarkable that is already in every child. Enthusiastic students who learn to speak out clearly and relate confidently with others have an inside track to a lifetime of success! We develop ALL kids, from the shy to the outgoing. We give them freedom and opportunity to develop. Our magic trick is using a wide range of unique drama activities to focus the bold and draw out the quiet, helping both to reach into themselves and discover the Remarkable within. We use our famous, copyrighted original curriculum in each and every class, following a progressive arc, layering skill upon skill, while the students also have fun! Our extensive and comprehensive curriculum was designed by educators and is the result of more than 35 years of experience and continuous, ongoing development. We teach the skills children will use all their lives:
*Confidence and Self Esteem
*Verbal & Cognitive Language Skills/Public Speaking
*Focus and Concentration
Drama Kids is very unique - unlike typical drama or acting classes or schools, most of which focus on preparation for production, we offer a fun, fast-paced and developmentally appropriate curriculum consisting of over 450 unique and detailed lesson plans. This well-structured curriculum allows students to start as young as age three and continue right on through to age 17, never repeating a lesson plan. At the end of the year, the students do presentations or productions, depending on the age group, where the students have a chance to show off all that they have learned during the year.
Studies have shown that students receive significant long-term academic benefits from participating in a quality drama program such as ours. Research further shows that to be effective, these programs need to be ongoing, running throughout the school year, so we work the curriculum around the local school calendars. Classes are held one day each week; each class is one hour long. Our curriculum is divided by age or grade:
*Kinder Kids (3-5 years old)
*Lower Primary (5-8 years old)
*Upper Primary (9-12 years old)
*Acting Academy (12-17 years old)
And just because there are holidays, breaks or summer, that does not mean there is no Drama available! We offer winter, spring and summer camps, one week long, on a half or full day basis.
