Katy Plantations Handcrafted Shutters was established when owner Rick Sukolicks discovered his passion for building handcrafted shutters for family and friends. During a vacation in Burton, Ga., Rick admired the shutters he saw in the cabin he was staying in but felt he could build a better product. Once home, Rick spent the next six months building his first handcrafted panel.
Rick started out building the handcrafted shutters out of his garage just for family and friends, yet over time he had created such a reputation for quality products and customer service the operation needed to be moved to a larger space.
Family-owned and operated Katy Plantations now operates out of a 5,000 square foot warehouse in Katy where 3,000 square feet is dedicated to manufacturing and painting. All of our shutters are handcrafted on site and built to last for years to come.
Katy Plantations combines the skills of true craftsmen with superb materials and cutting-edge machinery. We take pride in creating window coverings that make homes beautiful, that block a considerable amount of Texas heat and are available at a great price.
Our lumber is harvested throughout North America across several states and Canada in strict accordance with laws that govern and preserve our forests. Our sole lumber supplier is also compliant with all National Hardwood Association standards. All of our lumber originates only in North America.
Shutter lumber is not uniform across the industry with regards to its origin and quality, and you can be sure of both when you purchase your handmade shutters from Katy Plantations.
